Santa Rosa Island is worth the 2.5 Hour Trip Out. Very wild. In addition to the Torrey Pines, there are also a variety of Wildflowers found in few other places in the world - many unique only to the Channel Islands themselves.

If you're in to plant life - this is a great place to go.

The Poppies are "Yellow Poppies" they are not unique to the islands, but there are a ton of them. The Grass is not native, it was brought in by the cattle ranchers that owned the islands up until the 1990's.

This is called Water Canyon - the bottom is never dry. Just out of the picture is a by-pass bridge built by the retired superintendent.

The obligatory tourist trail-sign shot.
